General Motors' stock surged 4.8% in pre-market trading on Tuesday following the release of its second-quarter 2026 financial results, which significantly exceeded analyst expectations and prompted the company to raise its full-year outlook.

The Detroit automaker reported a 30% increase in quarterly core profit, driven by strength in its profitable truck and SUV sales. GM posted adjusted earnings per share of $3.57, beating the consensus estimate of $3.20. Revenue of $48.03 billion also topped expectations of $47.01 billion, while adjusted EBIT of $3.94 billion surpassed the estimated $3.79 billion.

Bolstered by these results, GM raised its full-year 2026 adjusted EBIT guidance to a range of $14 billion to $16 billion, up from its previous forecast of $13.5 billion to $15.5 billion. The company also increased its outlook for adjusted automotive free cash flow. Despite acknowledging ongoing headwinds from tariffs and commodity inflation, the strong quarterly performance and optimistic guidance revision have fueled investor confidence in the stock.
