According to a report by Singapore's Business Times, UOB intends to hire 1,000 fresh graduates before October next year, with roles spanning personal financial services, anti-money laundering, and other areas.
The recruitment positions also include management trainees, internship programs, and a future bankers program.
UOB Chief Executive Officer Wee Ee Cheong stated at the bank's annual employee event Better U Festival that although artificial intelligence can handle many routine tasks currently performed by junior staff and fresh graduates, the bank "will not stop hiring".
