Mercedes-Benz Group AG (MBGAF) has agreed to pay $150 million to settle claims with attorneys general from 50 U.S. states, according to reports.

The settlement resolves allegations that the automaker knowingly sold vehicles equipped with devices designed to circumvent emissions controls. The investigation, conducted under environmental and consumer protection laws, accused Mercedes-Benz of manufacturing and distributing diesel passenger cars and vans with "defeat device" software.

In a statement, Mercedes-Benz said the multistate agreement resolves "all substantial remaining legal proceedings" in the U.S. related to diesel emissions.
