Tesla Motors Vice President Tao Lin recently detailed the company's strategic plan and business layout for 2026 during an industry exchange session. It was disclosed that Tesla's capital expenditure for 2026 will exceed $20 billion, with funds allocated across six major areas.

First, significant investment will continue to support the mass production of Cybercab. Core production line construction at the U.S. factory has been largely completed, with the majority of upfront investment already made in 2025. Continued funding in 2026 will ensure the smooth scaling of Cybercab production.

Second, the development of AI computing centers represents the most critical investment focus. The training center in Texas, U.S., has already seen cumulative investments surpassing $10 billion, with substantial additional funding planned for 2026. This facility will support all of Tesla's AI-related applications, including autonomous driving and robotics model training. It will also serve as the computational foundation for a unified "world model," catering to global markets, including China.

Third, Tesla is upgrading and transforming its robotics manufacturing facilities. The company has already begun upgrading the Model S/X production lines, with larger-scale modifications scheduled for 2026. The goal is to achieve mass production capability for the Optimus robot by the end of the year.

Fourth, Tesla will continue expanding its energy storage business by increasing manufacturing investment to enhance overall production capacity and delivery capabilities, addressing rapidly growing global energy demands.

Fifth, the global manufacturing system will undergo upgrades, with a focus on improving both hardware automation and software capabilities. These enhancements aim to make the manufacturing process more efficient, intelligent, and scalable.

Sixth, Tesla will continue to expand its charging network and gradually open it to more automakers.
