Stock Track | Stryker Plunges 8.91% After-Hours on In-Line FY2026 Guidance Despite Q2 Earnings Beat

Stryker shares tumbled 8.91% in after-hours trading following the release of the company’s second-quarter earnings report. The steep decline came even as the medical technology giant reported better-than-expected results for the quarter.

For the second quarter, Stryker posted adjusted earnings per share of $3.69, surpassing the consensus estimate of $3.49. Revenue reached $6.6 billion, edging past the $6.579 billion forecast. However, the company issued full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance in a range of $14.95 to $15.10, which was largely in line with the FactSet consensus of $14.97. The outlook, combined with lingering concerns over a cybersecurity incident that caused a miss in the first quarter, appeared to disappoint investors and triggered heavy selling pressure in the post-market session.

The negative reaction underscores cautious market sentiment toward Stryker’s near-term growth trajectory. While the second-quarter beat was solid, the guidance did not provide a significant upside surprise, and the memory of the Q1 operational disruption remained fresh. The stock had been upgraded by UBS to Buy with a $400 price target just days before the report, but the after-hours sell-off erased gains and pushed shares sharply lower.
