The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently publicized the second batch of the 2026 National Famous, Special, and New Agricultural Products list, with 540 products nationwide slated for inclusion. Among them, Honghe Honey Pear from Xiuzhou District stood out, and together with four other regional products, a total of five made the cut.

Honghe Town in Xiuzhou District has earned the provincial designation of "Hometown of Yellow Pear" from the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, owing to its abundant production of yellow pear, also known as honey pear. The town cultivates over ten varieties, including Cuiyu, Cuiguan, Yuanhuang, Chuxialv, Yuguan, 518, and Huanghuali, with Cuiyu, Cuiguan, and Huanghuali serving as the primary commercial strains.

Currently, the town boasts a planting area of more than 2,300 mu, involving 140 households, and generated a total output value of 28.75 million yuan in 2025, solidifying its position as a hallmark agricultural industry for Honghe Town. Favorable climate and soil conditions have nurtured the Honghe Honey Pear, famously dubbed the "June Snow" for its crisp texture and refreshing sweetness.

Historical records indicate that honey pear, as an introduced species, first took root in Honghe during the 1960s and has since expanded steadily. In 2003, pear growers banded together to establish a specialized fruit cooperative, setting production standards and operational procedures that elevated the quality of Honghe Honey Pear. Through unified packaging and sales, the fruit embarked on a path of brand development, significantly boosting its market value.

By 2020, Honghe Town had completed the Honghe Fruit Public Service Center, introducing the province's first intelligent honey pear sorting line. Concurrently, substantial investment in cold storage facilities helped build a comprehensive fruit industry chain, extending the sales reach of Honghe Honey Pear from the Yangtze River Delta to the Pearl River Delta.

With the establishment of a rural e-commerce livestreaming base under the "Common Prosperity Workshop" initiative, Honghe Honey Pear has adopted a "company + cooperative + farmer" framework for shared prosperity. Leveraging a model that combines base-linked livestreaming, community group purchasing, online brand promotion, and agro-tourism integration, the fruit has transformed from a humble "green treasure" in the fields into a "golden asset" that enriches local communities.

After years of dedicated cultivation, "Honghe Honey Pear" has become a bona fide agricultural calling card for Xiuzhou. In 2020, it received national geographical indication certification for its trademark; in 2021, it earned green food certification; and in 2023, its graphic logo was also granted national geographical indication trademark status. Now, with this latest accolade—inclusion in the National Famous, Special, and New Agricultural Products list—the "national-level" endorsement makes this taste of Xiuzhou's sweetness even more robust and prestigious.
