US Energy Secretary Chris Wright informed reporters en route to Venezuela that 17 million barrels of petroleum traversed the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. As per a department spokesperson, this marks the highest single-day total since the onset of hostilities in the region.

Adding to that figure, the official noted that an additional 4 to 5 million barrels were diverted via overland pipelines bypassing the strait, pushing the day’s total crude movement above pre-conflict benchmarks. Wright further indicated that the current average daily throughput stands at 8 million barrels.
