Mixed Opening for Domestic Futures as Ethylene Glycol Surges Over 4%

At the start of trading on September 16, 2026, major domestic futures contracts showed mixed performance during the early morning session.

Ethylene glycol (EG) led gains with a surge of more than 4%, followed by bottle-grade chips rising over 3%. Low-sulphur fuel oil (LU) and paraxylene (PX) advanced nearly 3%, while bitumen, methanol, SC crude oil, and pure benzene each climbed more than 2%.

On the downside, nickel and the containerised freight index for Europe routes dropped over 2%, with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) falling nearly 2%. Stainless steel (SS), glass, coking coal, red dates, and coke all declined by more than 1%.

Market participants are closely monitoring these fluctuations as trading volumes pick up across key commodity sectors.
