Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport have officially activated their reciprocal remote air cargo stations, marking a new phase in their cross-regional collaboration, according to an announcement on Tuesday.

The launch of the Shenzhen-Qingdao intercity cargo facility enhances Shenzhen's air logistics network in the Bohai Rim region, significantly cutting transit times and boosting overall operational efficiency. This initiative aims to create a modern, interconnected air freight system that supports multi-point coordination and nationwide connectivity, injecting fresh momentum into the domestic economic cycle.

As a pivotal air cargo hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen Airport boasts a mature international route network and streamlined customs clearance advantages. It specializes in long-haul freight services to Europe, the Americas, and Southeast Asia, serving as a core platform for high-end manufacturing and cross-border e-commerce shipments from southern China.

Qingdao Airport, a key gateway in the Bohai Rim, leverages its dense flight network to Japan and South Korea to focus on cold-chain logistics and bilateral trade with these neighbors. It functions as a crucial aviation hub for economic exchanges and regional distribution in Northeast Asia.

The reciprocal cargo stations forge a direct link between the north and south, enabling resource sharing and smoother logistics flows. Cargo from northern China can now seamlessly connect to Shenzhen's international network, while high-end industrial materials and e-commerce goods from the south can rapidly reach Northeast Asian markets via Qingdao, shortening links, improving delivery times, and reducing overall costs.

Since early 2026, air connectivity between Shenzhen and Qingdao has intensified, with cumulative cargo and mail volume exceeding 4,100 tonnes. High demand for two-way shipments of electronic components, fresh seafood, and express parcels provides a robust industrial foundation for this deepened partnership.

In recent years, Shenzhen Airport has steadily expanded its national air cargo layout, adding new collaboration sites in Hangzhou, Hohhot, and Qingdao this year. These additions complement existing projects in Urumqi, Xi'an, and Lanzhou, broadening the reach of its nationwide air logistics network.

Looking ahead, Shenzhen Airport plans to continue deepening strategic alliances with other regional airports, fostering the flow of resources and building an integrated supply chain that connects the north and south, east and west, using air logistics collaboration to drive regional industrial synergy.
