On September 7, Shenyang Agricultural University held its opening ceremony and military training mobilization for the Class of 2026 at the Fanzhou Sports Stadium. More than 6,100 new students gathered at the university, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

Li Bin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Shenyang Agricultural University, attended the event and delivered a speech titled "The Fertile Soil as a Canvas, Youth as the Answer." He shared insights with students around three core themes—"Why Shenyang Agricultural University, How to Achieve, and How to Serve the Country"—encouraging them to root themselves in the university's rich soil, embrace the great era, and build remarkable lives, while expressing high expectations for their future.

"Students, what you have walked into is the best era for Chinese agriculture," Li Bin stated at the outset, underscoring the significance of the times. In 2026, as the 15th Five-Year Plan fully unfolds, rural revitalization advances in depth, seed industry breakthroughs are urgent, and new quality productive forces in agriculture are taking root. "The era has posed new questions, waiting for the younger generation to answer. While many flock to popular industries and bustling cities, you have chosen the agricultural track—this choice is not just about selecting a campus, but also a life direction grounded in hard work and dedication."

"Choosing Shenyang Agricultural University means taking on the responsibility of promoting agriculture," Li Bin emphasized. With a history of over 70 years, the university's development has been a journey of standing with the nation, advancing with agriculture, and keeping pace with the times. He urged all new students to understand the university's enduring spirit, carry forward the original mission of revitalizing agriculture and serving the country, and anchor their life paths in knowing, loving, learning, and practicing agriculture without wasting their youth.

Li Bin encouraged students to clarify the essence of learning, building solid knowledge to strengthen their foundations for life. He advised mastering study methods and upholding personal integrity, saying, "I hope you bend down more often in the fields and squat down in the mud, because observing from the ridge top and from within the soil are two different perspectives on agriculture."

Addressing the new era's "Three Rural Issues" mission, Li Bin urged the Class of 2026 to take up the baton of history, courageously embracing the responsibilities of rural revitalization and technological advancement in agriculture. He called on them to integrate personal aspirations with the grand cause of strengthening agriculture, scale new heights in research, and focus on innovative breakthroughs in key areas such as food security, seed industry revitalization, and black soil protection. This will drive agricultural development from merely "being fed" to "eating well," enabling them to answer the new era's questions as agricultural students and write a new chapter in strengthening agriculture and serving the nation.

Qiu Jiahui, a 1996 veterinary medicine alumnus and president of Well Hope Feeds Co., Ltd., shared insights from his 30 years since graduation. He encouraged his junior peers to stay true to their hearts during university, delve deeply into their majors, and become Shenyang Agricultural University people who "carry soil on their feet and the country in their hearts," realizing life's value through serving agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, and contributing to society.
