According to South Korean customs data released on September 21, exports during the first 20 days of September soared 78% year-over-year to $71.4 billion, marking the highest 20-day performance on record. Chip exports surged 259% to $34.12 billion, accounting for 47.8% of total exports, as sustained global AI demand continued to fuel semiconductor shipments for a 15th consecutive month of growth. Imports rose 26.7% to $48.4 billion, yielding a trade surplus of $2.3 billion. Petroleum products and automobile exports also climbed 47.8% and 9.3%, respectively. The KOSPI index opened 0.6% higher and extended gains to 1.1%, with the three-times leveraged structure of this ETF amplifying the underlying market move.
