The stock of ASMPT (00522) has surged more than 12% once again. At the time of writing, the shares are up 10.66% to HK$202.4, with a turnover of HK$610 million.

According to disclosures from SK Hynix management, the global shortage of memory chips may persist until 2030. In response, major global high-end memory manufacturers are accelerating their production capacity expansion plans, which is expected to bring forward substantial procurement demand for mass production equipment and materials.

Calculations by an open-source securities firm indicate that under full production capacity, the global demand for new TCB equipment supporting HBM production is projected to be 532, 648, and 748 units for 2026, 2027, and 2028, respectively. The firm notes that as global memory giants speed up their expansion, the procurement demand for TCB equipment is climbing.

Another securities firm has released a research report stating that while ASMPT's current valuation already reflects the upturn in the advanced packaging cycle, the company's order book is expected to continue growing, accompanied by sustained improvements in profitability. It is recommended to monitor the company's Q2 order and equipment shipment pace, news regarding HBM capacity expansion and AI packaging capital expenditures, as well as the recovery of risk appetite within the semiconductor equipment sector.
