The construction of the photovoltaic section of Daqing Oilfield's Lindian 600MW wind-solar power project is now in full swing. In September's Lindian grassland, standing water and deep mud made conditions harsh, but the thunder of pile drivers broke through the open landscape as rows of pipe piles pressed steadily into the earth. As a nationally significant green energy project and Daqing Oilfield's first major photovoltaic initiative to connect to the national grid, work has fully commenced.
Petroleum Special Equipment Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Equipment Manufacturing Group, is undertaking this phase of construction. It represents the largest and most technically demanding photovoltaic project the Shizhuan company has handled since its transition into the new energy sector. The project's general construction manager, Guo Jiaqi, said: "We only gained site access on August 17th, placing us under extreme time pressure. However, in the Shizhuan dictionary, 'how to get it done' always takes precedence over 'impossible'."
Road access was the initial major challenge upon arrival. The low-lying Lindian grassland was covered in turf and silt, plagued by severe water accumulation. To preserve the grassland's surface and native vegetation, the project team from the new energy branch quickly refined their plans. They chose to construct temporary pathways using pipe mats. Over 7,000 mats were laid layer by layer across the marshy ground, with up to six layers placed in the deepest water, carving a crucial access route through the wetlands.
Construction officially commenced on August 24th. Despite the nearly one-meter-deep marshland, temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, and sudden rainstorms, progress remained steady as pile foundations rose one by one. By September 6th, 8,854 piles had been completed. Behind this rapid pace lies the dedication of every team member, who maintained an unyielding schedule from 4 a.m. until 10 p.m., with daily coordination meetings. The management team demonstrated exceptional commitment, with individuals overseeing site operations, safety protocols, technical documentation, material supply, and logistical support in a tightly coordinated effort.
Speed did not compromise standards. The team controlled module installation flatness to within ±2 millimeters and pile verticality deviation to under 7 millimeters per meter, conducting thorough checks throughout the process. When a minor pile elevation discrepancy was discovered one night, Guo Jiaqi rushed to the scene to oversee immediate rectification, working through the night until precision was achieved.
Having only pivoted to the new energy sector in 2025, the team started from scratch. Prior to launch, systematic training was conducted, and all key positions required certification. The project employed a rigorous control mechanism featuring clear task lists, schedule planning, and daily progress tracking. All documentation and procedures were prepared in advance to support the fast-paced execution. As the work continues across the vast Lindian grassland, the team is racing toward its completion target, ready to transform sunlight into clean, renewable power for the national grid.
