After the Cold Dew solar term passed, the cornfields of Qiandamo Township in Wei County, Handan City, were already bustling with activity. Large harvesters rumbled through, swallowing row after row of corn into their steel bellies, completing ear-picking and husking in one smooth motion, with golden kernels pouring like a waterfall into grain transport trucks. "This year is truly a bumper harvest! Mechanized harvesting saves so much effort," said Li Xilin, chairman of Aigeng Planting Cooperative, beaming with joy. The cooperative's contracted 2,500-plus mu of corn achieved an average yield of over 800 kilograms per mu.

Wei County's confidence stems from a well-coordinated harvest strategy. As a national rural revitalization demonstration county, local authorities organized expert teams to be assigned to each township and major grain-growing households, focusing on refined management of seeds, irrigation and fertilization, pest control, and drainage and drought relief. In the early stage, 11 sessions of technical training on "one spray, multiple promotions" and other techniques were conducted, and over 200 episodes of pesticide guidance were pushed through short video platforms, benefiting more than 20,000 farmers.

Reporters learned from the Hebei Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs that as of October 8, the province's autumn grain harvest exceeded 48 million mu, accounting for 76% of the total planted area, with corn harvest exceeding 40 million mu, representing 77% of the planted area. Five cities including Hengshui, Xingtai, and Handan have completed over 90% of their harvest, while Shijiazhuang has exceeded 80%.

Behind the bountiful harvest is the technological confidence built by a field "competition." On October 8, in the experimental field of Wufeng Agricultural Machinery Cooperative in Gaocheng District, Shijiazhuang City, agricultural technology experts conducted precise measurements of four planting models. The results showed that the conventional planting model achieved an actual yield of 840.5 kilograms per mu; the corn strip rotary tillage seeding model achieved 882.9 kilograms per mu; the air-suction precision seeding model achieved 869.2 kilograms per mu; and the air-blown triangular seeding model achieved 777.3 kilograms per mu.

"All participating models have been verified through field practice in multiple locations, not through groundless exploration or blind experimentation. They possess good field adaptability and localized promotion foundations, and can better align with the actual corn production conditions in Shijiazhuang City," introduced Yuan Ruijiang, head of the Shijiazhuang Agricultural Mechanization Promotion Station. Next, the station will accelerate the adoption and popularization of advanced planting models through demonstration and promotion, technical training, and field guidance, continuously improving Shijiazhuang's corn yield per unit area and comprehensive grain production capacity.

Bringing every grain safely to the granary also requires institutional safeguards. Linzi Village in Qiu County, Handan City, has implemented a land trusteeship model of "500 yuan per mu guaranteed minimum, with profits above that split fifty-fifty." Villager Guo Qilin, who works elsewhere, has his 15 mu of land fully entrusted, monitoring his fields in real time via mobile phone and expecting an income of 14,000 yuan. The drying tower at Taiye Intelligent Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. in Baixiang County, Xingtai City, processes over 300 tons of grain per day, with a threshing rate above 98% and moisture content precisely controlled below 14.5%. The 20,000-ton smart granary comes with built-in "air conditioning," completely freeing grain from dependence on weather conditions.

For rapid harvesting and planting, agricultural machinery is the star player. The province has coordinated and deployed 810,000 units of various agricultural machinery, including 77,000 corn harvesters and 150,000 wheat seeders. It has also reserved over 500 crawler-type harvesters and more than 1,600 dryers, with a daily drying capacity exceeding 200,000 tons. Autumn harvest connects to autumn planting. As of October 8, the province has planted 860,000 mu of winter wheat. Various regions are seizing sunny weather to dry and store grain, clear stubble and prepare fields, select seeds according to local conditions, and sow at the right time based on soil moisture.
