According to a letter from the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to Congress, the agency is currently using over 2,600 electric vehicles for mail delivery.
In 2023, Congress allocated $3 billion for the purchase of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, with $1.2 billion specifically designated for EVs. In the letter dated November 17, USPS stated that it had ordered 8,700 Ford E-Transit vans, with 2,010 already delivering mail from 65 locations.
Additionally, USPS has 612 next-generation electric delivery vehicles, custom-built by Oshkosh Defense, operating across 15 locations.
