The US-based gold and silver development company, Hycroft Mining Holding Corp, has announced the appointment of Michael Deal as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective August 24, 2026. Deal brings over two decades of experience in operations and technical leadership for complex gold and silver mining assets in North America, with a proven track record in building, expanding, and enhancing mine operations through capital allocation, technical rigor, and operational optimization.

Deal previously served as Vice President of Operations at First Majestic Silver, where he provided corporate-level leadership for multiple producing mines and development assets. He was also the execution lead for a $1 billion acquisition integration and managed annual capital programs exceeding $300 million. His career includes roles at companies such as Nevada Gold Mines, OceanaGold, Romarco Minerals, and Newmont Corp, with work spanning open-pit and underground mining, heap leaching, milling, flotation, roasting, autoclave processing, and refractory ore treatment. During his tenure at Nevada Gold Mines, he managed processing operations at the Carlin Complex, including the Goldstrike roaster and autoclave facilities, as well as roasting, milling, and heap leaching facilities at Gold Quarry.

Hycroft's Chief Executive Officer, Diane Garrett, stated that Deal's extensive technical and operational experience is directly aligned with the company's strategy to advance Hycroft to its next operational phase. He will focus on reviewing multiple scenarios for mine development, with particular attention on the high-grade silver systems at Brimstone and Vortex. Deal himself views Hycroft as one of North America's largest gold-silver assets, highlighting the significant potential of its large-scale resource base and its favorable mining jurisdiction in Nevada.

Deal is a registered member and Qualified Person with the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration and serves on the SME Foundation Board of Directors. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (with an Economics minor) from the Colorado School of Mines and an MBA from Arizona State University.
