A sudden debris flow occurred early on September 19 near the Shijia Tunnel in ZhiLiuhe Village, Gexala Township, Yanbian County, Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province, according to the Sichuan Provincial Department of Natural Resources.

In response, the Geological Exploration Management Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level IV geological disaster defense response, while the Sichuan Provincial Geological Disaster Prevention and Control Headquarters initiated a Level III emergency response.

The provincial department has coordinated with the Panzhihua City and Yanbian County natural resources authorities to guide rapid emergency handling and has dispatched an expert working group to the site.

Currently, local authorities have mobilized support teams, including 7 vehicles, 30 technical specialists, and 6 sets of drone equipment, which have arrived at the disaster area. They are conducting emergency investigations, monitoring and early warning efforts, and hidden danger inspections, delineating hazardous zones, assisting with on-site personnel control, and providing technical support for rescue and disaster relief operations.
