GREEN FRESH BIO (01084) has announced that its BOTEC brand eco-friendly transparent window sandwich box has been officially approved by the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department for listing on the Green Tableware Platform as a certified disposable eco-friendly tableware product.
The product, part of a series of 100% biodegradable seaweed polysaccharide film applications developed by the group's subsidiary, Lan Hai Algae Membrane (Fujian) Biological Technology Co., Ltd., and distributed by the wholly-owned subsidiary Green (China) Technology Development Co., Ltd. (Green (China)), has been added to the platform.
This regulatory development follows the amendment of Hong Kong's Product Eco-responsibility Ordinance (Chapter 603) to include provisions regulating disposable plastic tableware and other plastic products, which took effect on April 22, 2024.
The platform is designed to help the catering industry and the public source compliant alternatives to disposable plastic tableware, aiming to reduce plastic pollution at its source to lessen its impact on marine ecosystems, human health, and climate change.
The sandwich box utilizes a highly transparent, self-developed seaweed polysaccharide film, representing an innovative food-grade transparent polysaccharide material that holds a core market advantage as an industry first.
This transparent polysaccharide film material has been certified by an independent third-party authority as 100% plastic-free.
Furthermore, the product received the German TÜV DIN Home Compostable certification in March of this year, highlighting the group's internationally leading technical capabilities in the field of new eco-friendly transparent materials.
The board of directors believes that inclusion on the Green Tableware Platform not only signifies full recognition of the BOTEC brand sandwich box's environmental standards but also marks a significant milestone for the group in promoting sustainable development and green technology products.
