Keymed Bio-B Shares Surge Over 6% in Morning Trading Following AbbVie's Major Acquisition

Stock News
06/23

Shares of Keymed Bio-B (HKEX: 02162) rose more than 6% in early trading. At the time of writing, the stock was up 6.44% to HK$60.35, with a turnover of HK$26.24 million.

The movement follows news that AbbVie has announced its intention to acquire Apogee for approximately $10.9 billion. Apogee's core product is the long-acting IL-13 monoclonal antibody APG777, with the transaction expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.

Analyst Perspective on the Deal

Analysts note that this acquisition demonstrates the high strategic value and peak sales potential that major pharmaceutical companies place on long-acting atopic dermatitis assets, further validating the value proposition of such products.

Implications for Keymed Bio-B's Pipeline

It is highlighted that Keymed Bio-B's core pipeline candidate, CM512, is an IL-13/TSLP bispecific antibody that also targets type 2 inflammatory diseases. With a half-life of approximately 70 days, it has the potential to support dosing intervals of 3 to 6 months. Data from a Phase II trial for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps is expected to be read out imminently, with a Phase III trial for sinusitis anticipated to start in the second half of 2026, alongside interim analyses for asthma and COPD Phase II studies.

Should clinical data support extended dosing intervals, its long-acting advantage could significantly enhance its market competitiveness. Beyond CM512, the company is expected to have multiple other catalysts throughout the year.
