Reports indicate that ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent have placed orders for more than three million of NVIDIA's new RTX PRO 5500 graphics processing units (GPUs), designed for enterprise and workstation use, with a total list price exceeding $35 billion.

NVIDIA has reportedly informed customers and partners that it cannot guarantee it will be able to fulfill these orders, as demand from Chinese technology companies far exceeds its originally planned production capacity. The total order volume from Chinese clients has reportedly surpassed six million units.

The graphics cards ordered by ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent are listed at approximately $11,400 each, putting the potential total value of the three companies' orders at over $35 billion. Sources say NVIDIA has told partners it may only be able to supply 5% to 10% of the quantities ordered by customers. People familiar with the matter cited NVIDIA as saying that global production of RTX PRO 5500 graphics cards in 2027 will be at most three million units.
