Medical device company Butterfly Network, Inc. (NYSE: BFLY) has announced the commercial launch of its Butterfly iQ+ and iQ3 handheld ultrasound devices and companion mobile application in Brazil through an authorized distributor network.

Brazil represents the largest medical device market in Latin America and is one of the world's fastest-growing ultrasound markets. This market entry aims to enhance diagnostic capabilities for major hospitals, municipal health systems, clinics, and emergency services, while also expanding access to medical care for remote rural communities with geographical constraints.

The Butterfly ultrasound platform integrates its proprietary semiconductor-based "ultrasound-on-a-chip" technology with a mobile app, compatible with iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. This enables healthcare professionals to perform whole-body imaging using a single handheld device. Unlike traditional ultrasound systems that rely on piezoelectric crystals, this technology expands the application of medical imaging in a more portable and easily deployable format.

The launch in Brazil marks a further expansion of Butterfly's global commercial footprint. The company's first-quarter financial results showed a 25% year-over-year increase in revenue, driven by growth in point-of-care ultrasound, home and community health applications, and its embedded program licensing the chip platform to third parties. Butterfly products are now available in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, and parts of the Middle East.
