OpenAI, Anthropic PBC, and SpaceXAI experienced service outages on Thursday, impacting a significant number of users across these three leading American AI companies, based on user reports and the firms' respective status pages.

Downdetector, a platform that monitors outages, received tens of thousands of user reports indicating problems with OpenAI's services. In response, OpenAI stated it is investigating a surge in error rates affecting its ChatGPT chatbot and the Codex AI coding tool.

Anthropic confirmed that errors across several of its models have been resolved, but the company is still addressing service anomalies related to Opus 4.8 and Opus 5. Additionally, according to its own service status page, Elon Musk's SpaceXAI reported interruptions to its Grok chatbot.
