Luxembourg-based subsea engineering company Subsea7 has been awarded a major contract by Petrobras for the development of the Sépia 2 oil field in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil. The contract was secured through a competitive bidding process and covers the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of the project's subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines. The company has classified the contract as "major," indicating its value exceeds $1.25 billion. The Sépia 2 field is situated approximately 280 kilometers southeast of Rio de Janeiro at a water depth of around 2,170 meters. It represents a key expansion phase in Brazil's pre-salt region. Subsea7 stated that the contract scope includes operations for 17 wells, two of which will be connected to the Sépia 1 project, along with a gas export pipeline featuring 18 risers. Project management and engineering activities will commence immediately at the company's offices in Rio de Janeiro, Paris, and Sutton. Offshore operations are scheduled to begin in 2029. Yann Cottart, Senior Vice President for Subsea7 Brazil and the Global Project Center West, said, "This contract award strengthens Subsea7's project portfolio in Brazil and reinforces our established partnership with Petrobras in the pre-salt area. Through strong local content, disciplined execution, and close collaboration, we support nationally significant projects with predictable delivery. We appreciate Petrobras's continued trust and look forward to the successful delivery of the Sépia 2 project."
