Beijing Welcomes 8.783 Million Visitors During Mid-Autumn Holiday

Beijing's culture and tourism market showed strong vitality during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.

According to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the city received a total of 8.783 million visitors during the holiday, generating total tourism spending of 11.54 billion yuan.

Among them, 83,000 inbound tourists were received, with inbound tourism spending reaching 780 million yuan.

The top ten scenic spots and areas by visitor reception were: Olympic Park, Wangfujing, Xidan, Liangma River International Style Waterfront, Tiananmen Area, Qianmen Street, Ditan Park, Temple of Heaven Park, Shichahai Scenic Area, and Nanluoguxiang.

During the Mid-Autumn holiday, the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism held a themed promotional event titled "Enjoy Mid-Autumn, Explore Beijing," which linked together folk custom lectures, intangible cultural heritage interactions, and boat tours for moon viewing, among other rich activities.

The fourth Beijing International Canal Arts Festival drew enthusiastic crowds, with 14 art troupes from 13 countries performing 22 high-quality Chinese and foreign cultural shows along the Grand Canal. A "Canal x Mid-Autumn" themed market was held simultaneously, featuring Beijing time-honored brands alongside international cuisine, with overseas handmade crafts and cultural creative products showcased together, attracting over 50,000 visits.

Cultural centers, public libraries, and other public cultural institutions at all levels across the city organized 585 public welfare cultural activities across 834 sessions, including artistic performances, reading promotion, handicraft experiences, cultural lectures, and themed exhibitions, with a cumulative participation of 876,000 visits.

During the Mid-Autumn holiday, Beijing's performing arts market hosted 308 productions with 951 commercial performances, drawing approximately 390,000 audience members and generating box office revenue of about 170 million yuan.

The Beijing Symphony Orchestra's Taihu Classical Music Season innovatively launched a "Symphony+" crossover model, blending rock, jazz, and dance elements, presenting multiple distinctive performances in both indoor and outdoor formats.

Concerts by Zhou Shen's 2026 "Deep Deep" concert, Mao Buyi's 2026 "Only Tonight" concert, and Mayuan Poet's "Stars Shining Around" Beijing outdoor concert were held with great enthusiasm. Themed performances such as the "Bright Moon Splendor" Mid-Autumn concert filled the festive atmosphere.

New productions including the National Centre for the Performing Arts' newly staged play "The Spring River Flows East" and the Beijing People's Art Theatre's revived production "Hua Mei" premiered during the Mid-Autumn period.

In addition, during the Mid-Autumn holiday, the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism selected holiday activities and launched a "Must-Play Recommendation List," partnering with platforms such as Baidu, Didi, and Ctrip to offer diverse experiences and discounted products. It also released 10 "Strolling Beijing — Grand Canal Cultural Theme Tour" routes and 10 "Ancient Tree Discovery Journey" themed routes.

The Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism also introduced 10 Mid-Autumn suburban Beijing roaming routes, including water town moonlight tours and sunset concert tours.

Suburban districts leveraged their respective resource advantages to launch autumn-themed routes and series of activities. Yanqing District introduced three premium routes featuring Great Wall culture, Guishui ecology, and Winter Olympics trendy experiences. Shunyi District launched four premium routes including chrysanthemum garden autumn viewing and wetland roaming, as well as ancient town exploration and lakeside leisure. Huairou District released an autumn culture and tourism map, providing a premium guide for residents and tourists to explore suburban Beijing.

Events such as the Miyun Fish King Food Culture Festival, the "Juyong Moon Viewing · Fun Garden Tour" Mid-Autumn themed garden event, and the Mutianyu Great Wall International Chestnut Harvest Festival rolled out one after another, attracting large numbers of residents and tourists to immerse themselves in the autumn charm of suburban Beijing.
