AI Data Center Startup Lands Multibillion-Dollar Cloud Deal With Major Trading Firm

A cloud computing agreement valued at approximately $13 billion has been signed between data center startup Crusoe and quantitative trading firm Jane Street Group, according to sources familiar with the matter. The deal marks another high-profile addition for Crusoe, which has previously secured contracts with Meta Platforms and Oracle to supply AI computing power.

Under the five-year arrangement, Crusoe will deliver computing clusters equipped with advanced AI chips through its cloud platform to Jane Street, along with the supporting infrastructure required for AI training and inference workloads. Reports from last week indicated that Crusoe is concurrently seeking a chip-backed loan that would use the Jane Street contract as collateral.

People familiar with the situation describe Jane Street as the most significant client Crusoe's cloud division has secured to date. The substantial agreement has also generated heightened investor interest in Crusoe's latest funding round, with discussions underway to raise approximately $3 billion at a valuation near $30 billion, according to one source. Representatives for Crusoe declined to provide comment, while Jane Street did not respond to requests for remarks.
