Robots Shift from Vision to Touch, PaXini Builds a Business Around Tactile Data

Robots are evolving from simply "seeing the world" to genuinely interacting with it through physical contact.

At the 2026 World Robot Conference held on August 19, PaXini unveiled a suite of new products, including the PX-FOOTRIX multi-dimensional tactile sensor for the soles of feet and the PXCap Pro five-finger data collection glove.

Rather than just adding another sensor to a robot, PaXini's larger ambition is to transform the data generated when machines interact with the physical world into a reusable infrastructure that can be collected, leveraged, and used for training.

The newly launched PXCap Pro converts human manipulation processes directly into training data. The glove simultaneously records tactile feedback, visual input, and hand posture, then maps this information onto robotic dexterous hands.

At the WRC venue, wearing the PXCap Pro allows the same set of hand movements to be mapped in real time to different dexterous hands, achieving "one-time collection, multi-machine reuse."

This approach tackles a practical challenge in embodied intelligence data production: robot configurations and hardware designs are still evolving rapidly. If data can only serve a single terminal, large-scale collection investments would need to be restarted with each hardware iteration.

Meanwhile, the PX6AX GEN4 released this time covers full-body electronic skin and gripper forms, while the PX-FOOTRIX extends tactile sensing to the soles of the feet, enabling the perception of ground softness and force variations to provide information for dynamic gait adjustments.

From hands to feet, PaXini is expanding tactile sensors, originally focused on end-effector operations, across the entire robot body.

Behind this layout is a closed commercial loop of "sensors—data—models." PaXini has established the OmniSharing DB, a full-modal embodied intelligence dataset, and is further training the OmniVTLA model, which integrates multimodal inputs including vision, touch, and language.

Capital is also betting on this direction. In early August this year, PaXini secured an additional 1 billion yuan in a strategic funding round, bringing cumulative funding to nearly 4 billion yuan.

As embodied intelligence transitions from "seeing" to "touching," tactile sensing is evolving from a mere sensor category into a new gateway connecting data, models, and robot bodies.
