The golden autumn harvest season has brought a bountiful scene to Luoping County, where over 20,000 mu of seed corn has reached full maturity. Harvesting is in full swing across the fields, processing is running smoothly at local enterprises, and the atmosphere is filled with the joy of a bumper crop.

At the unified seed corn purchasing site of Luoping Datian Seed Industry Company, the spacious yard is packed with large trucks loaded with corn ears. As the truck doors open, golden, plump corn ears pour out continuously onto the initial screening line, where workers carefully remove husks and cull diseased or inferior ears, strictly controlling quality at the source.

"I planted more than 600 mu of seed corn this year, and I've already harvested over 100 mu. It should take about three more days to finish. The company sets very strict standards for seed quality; all ears must pass through a unified machine screening process before they can go into the dryer for processing," said grower Liu Guofei. Thanks to favorable weather and ample sunshine this year, the growth and yield of his corn crop have been quite impressive.

This year, Luoping Datian Seed Industry Company has planted over 20,000 mu of seed corn across Luoping County, involving 77 farming households in a large-scale planting model that features contiguous planning and zoned management. Relying on the mature "company + planting base + farmer" industrial model, the enterprise signs guaranteed minimum purchase contracts with growers and provides full-chain agronomic services covering everything from seedling cultivation and field management to harvesting and processing. This guidance helps farmers optimize planting methods based on local conditions, effectively reducing planting risks while enhancing stable yields and income growth, giving farmers confidence in planting and security in their earnings.

Grower Yang Biao, who planted 1,200 mu of seed corn this year, experimented with three planting methods under the company's technical guidance: hole-digging with film mulching, hole-punching with film mulching, and no film mulching at all. "This year's weather conditions were excellent, and the yield differences between the three methods were relatively small. However, based on years of accumulated planting experience, the hole-digging with film mulching method has a more obvious advantage in ensuring stable yields," Yang Biao explained.

Benefiting from the clear weather, the field harvesting of seed corn is progressing efficiently. To date, 9,100 mu of seed corn have been harvested across the county. All of these high-quality harvested corn ears will be transported to the Datian Seed Industry processing plant, where automated production lines will carry out fine sorting, impurity removal, and shelling to turn them into premium seeds ready for the market.

"The plant operates a fully automated assembly line for unloading, sorting, shelling, and warehousing, which significantly reduces manual intervention. This not only greatly improves processing efficiency but also allows us to precisely control core indicators such as seed cleanliness, purity, and moisture content, effectively lowering the seed damage rate and ensuring every batch of high-quality seeds meets standards," said Luo Hongyang, supervisor of the Datian Seed Industry Changqing plant. Currently, the production line is running at full capacity around the clock, processing about 700 tons of seed corn ears per day.

According to statistics, the county's total of over 20,000 mu of seed corn is expected to yield 11,660 tons of ears, generating a total output value of 75 million yuan. The processed premium corn seeds will be sold to various southwestern provinces as well as Shaanxi, Gansu, Hubei, Hunan, and other major corn-producing regions across the country, with annual sales exceeding 20 million kilograms.

In recent years, Luoping County has capitalized on its unique climatic and land conditions, relying on leading enterprises to establish a full-chain development system based on the "company + planting base + farmer" model, driving seed corn production toward large-scale, standardized, and order-based operations. This season's abundant harvest has not only brought tangible benefits to local growers but has also stocked the market with premium corn seeds, reinforcing the seed industry's role in safeguarding national food production.
