China Tower's Chairman Zhang Zhiyong Highlights 3.28 Million 5G Base Stations Built and Over 430 Billion Yuan in Industry Savings

At the opening of MWC26 Shanghai, CHINA TOWER Chairman Zhang Zhiyong delivered a keynote address.

He stated that CHINA TOWER has been instrumental in helping China build the world's largest and highest-quality mobile broadband network. The company has cumulatively constructed 3.28 million 5G base stations, provided indoor coverage across 16.4 billion square meters of building space, and covered 48,000 kilometers of high-speed rail and subway lines. This effort has effectively eliminated the need to build 1.27 million additional towers, saving the industry more than 430 billion yuan in investment and operational costs.

Furthermore, leveraging its location resources, CHINA TOWER is promoting the development of an integrated "air-space-land-sea" spatial network. For aerial coverage, it is establishing low-altitude infrastructure, satellite communications, and terrestrial mobile networks. On the ground, it boasts extensive, wide-ranging, dense, and tall coverage advantages, with over 2.15 million tower sites ensuring communication access wherever people live; site spacing is between 200 to 500 meters in urban areas and 1 to 1.5 kilometers in rural areas, with tower heights ranging from 20 to 60 meters. For underground areas, it is enhancing coverage management and safety assurance capabilities in obscured spaces. For maritime coverage, it is advancing comprehensive communication network coverage spanning space-based, air-based, ocean-based, and sea-based systems.
