China Energy Engineering’s Newly-Signed Contracts Fall 33.8% in 1H26, Construction Orders Slump While Design and Manufacturing Hold Firm

China Energy Engineering Corporation (China Energy Engineering) reported that newly-signed contracts totaled RMB 236.99 billion for the second quarter of 2026 and RMB 513.19 billion for the first half, marking a 33.81% year-on-year decline in aggregate order value.

Construction and Contracting Weakness • The group’s largest segment, Construction and Contracting, booked RMB 209.07 billion in Q2 and RMB 458.50 billion year-to-date, down 36.06% from the same period last year. • Within this segment: – Traditional energy projects fell 29.89% to RMB 128.36 billion YTD. – New energy and comprehensive intelligent energy orders retreated 27.32% to RMB 239.96 billion, though they now represent 47% of total YTD signings. – Urban construction and comprehensive transportation contracts declined sharply, down 63.58% and 68.99%, respectively.

Resilient Design and Manufacturing • Survey, Design & Consulting gained 7.69% year-on-year to RMB 18.74 billion for the first half, aided by a 43.67% surge in new-energy-related design work to RMB 3.21 billion. • Industrial Manufacturing orders inched up 0.87% to RMB 21.60 billion, offering a measure of stability amid broader weakness.

Other Businesses • Revenue from Other Businesses slipped 26.44% to RMB 14.34 billion in the first six months.

Regional Performance • Domestic contracts contracted 37.89% year-on-year to RMB 357.69 billion. • Overseas engagements proved relatively resilient, down 22.05% to RMB 155.50 billion, accounting for roughly 30% of total orders.

Management noted that the figures are preliminary and may differ from those disclosed in forthcoming periodic reports.
