The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Department of Science and Technology has officially approved the establishment of two new technological innovation centers in Tongliao, focusing on corn seed industry and beef cattle industry advancements. This approval marks a significant step forward in the region's efforts to strengthen its agricultural and livestock production capabilities, positioning Tongliao as a key player in the national strategy for agricultural development.

This strategic move is designed to enhance the region's innovation ecosystem and reshape its competitive edge in agriculture and animal husbandry. The decision represents a crucial milestone for Tongliao in supporting the construction of the nation's important agricultural and livestock product bases, demonstrating how technology-led innovation can drive industrial transformation. By establishing these centers, the region is laying the groundwork for a more resilient and technologically advanced agricultural sector.

Since the initial planning phases began in 2020, Tongliao has been actively collaborating with top-tier research institutions both locally and nationally. Over the past six years, this collaborative effort has brought together prestigious organizations including China Agricultural University, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Jiangnan University, and the National Engineering Research Center for Agricultural Information Technology. Through these partnerships, the initiative has attracted more than 150 high-level professionals on flexible arrangements, creating a comprehensive innovation pipeline that spans from academicians providing strategic leadership to grassroots practitioners implementing solutions on the ground.

The corn seed industry innovation center, headed by a distinguished academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, brings together elite national research teams to establish a comprehensive network across the region. This center's framework incorporates a unified system with three core facilities and five specialized platforms, all dedicated to addressing critical challenges in germplasm resource development. The primary focus is on overcoming technological bottlenecks in seed genetics to strengthen the region's intellectual property and position the "Inner Mongolia" brand as a leader in corn varieties with superior traits.

Meanwhile, the beef cattle industry innovation center benefits from the participation of five major national research teams, working collaboratively across the entire value chain. Their combined expertise spans seed genetics, efficient farming practices, smart ranch technologies, advanced processing methods, and brand value optimization. This comprehensive approach aims to establish a homegrown premium beef brand that can compete at the highest levels, transforming "Inner Mongolia Beef" from a regional product into a nationally recognized name, elevating it from commodity status to a premium brand with significant market influence, and shifting the industry's competitive advantage from scale to value creation.

Looking ahead, the Tongliao Science and Technology Bureau will provide strong coordination and guidance while ensuring adequate resource allocation to accelerate productive research outcomes from both centers. The goal is to convert the technological capabilities developed through this platform into tangible industrial growth across the region, making the "seed chip" and "beef chip" innovations the driving forces behind high-quality agricultural and livestock development. This initiative is expected to make substantial contributions to the autonomous region's mission of building a nationally important production base for agricultural and livestock products.
