Qinghai Establishes 439 Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine Clinics During 14th Five-Year Plan Period

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Qinghai Province has comprehensively advanced its traditional Chinese and Tibetan medicine initiatives by implementing a major project for the revitalization and development of traditional Chinese medicine.

The province has continuously strengthened top-level design, improved the policy support system, promoted the inheritance and innovation of traditional practices, and leveraged their unique advantages, leading to significant upgrades in service capabilities, expansion of talent teams, enhanced cultural dissemination, and progress in scientific research.

Major projects, including the National Regional Medical Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine, flagship hospitals for integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and key hospitals specializing in traditional Chinese medicine, have been steadily implemented.

The Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Provincial Tibetan Medical Hospital have been approved for national smart hospital construction projects.

The Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is advancing the construction of a national pilot zone for the inheritance and innovative development of traditional Chinese medicine.

A total of 60 general hospitals and 29 maternal and child health institutions across the province now provide traditional Chinese and Tibetan medicine services, accounting for 95% and 55.8% of their respective categories, respectively.

The province has cumulatively established 439 traditional Chinese (Tibetan) medicine clinics, achieving full coverage of such clinics in primary healthcare institutions and continuously improving the accessibility of traditional Chinese and Tibetan medical services.

The province has deeply implemented a project to promote traditional Chinese medicine culture, establishing 17 provincial-level cultural education and publicity bases for traditional Chinese and Tibetan medicine.

It has conducted a series of activities titled "Exploring Qinghai's Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine through the 24 Solar Terms" and developed and promoted distinctive cultural and creative products.

Through exchange visits with Mongolia and participation in events such as the Hong Kong International Chinese Medicine and Traditional Medicine Expo and the Qinghai-Macau Economic Trade Exchange and Cooperation activities, the province has promoted the culture and unique advantages of traditional Chinese and Tibetan medicine.

The Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Provincial Tibetan Medical Hospital, and the Provincial Tibetan Medicine Research Institute have actively participated in the construction of the Plateau Medical Research Center, jointly building a "1+5+N" scientific research cooperation system to promote in-depth development in plateau medicine research.

The "Tibetan Medicine Disease Classification and Codes," developed in collaboration with Tibet and other provinces, has been officially listed and announced by the state, incorporating 3,036 disease names and is currently submitted to the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine for approval.

Over 3,000 types of ancient Tibetan medical literature have been rescued and collected, with more than 1,700 types sorted and published; the compiled and published "Tibetan Medical Canon" is the largest collection of Tibetan medical literature in China to date.
