The Qinghai Provincial Medical Products Administration has announced a series of measures to ensure the safety of medical devices for tourists as the peak travel season arrives.

To fortify the safety defenses for medical devices in scenic areas and protect tourists, the provincial administration has meticulously planned and conducted on-site quality and safety inspections at various tourist attractions and sites.

This inspection initiative involved guidance from experts assigned by the National Medical Products Administration, focusing on source control and implementing comprehensive, chain-wide regulatory checks across multiple dimensions including business entities, supply sources, and operational sites.

Inspectors meticulously verified registrations, permits, supplier credentials, and product certification documents. They strictly examined procurement channels for popular devices and nursing supplies, and addressed issues such as unclear product origins, missing documentation, and incomplete records.

Simultaneous checks were conducted on storage and display conditions, as well as expiration date management, with a strict prohibition on the sale of expired or deteriorated products, aiming to identify and eliminate various on-site operational risks in a closed-loop manner.

For business entities in high-traffic tourist areas—such as service zones within scenic spots, shops along tourist routes, and self-service vending points, especially those with high sales volumes of oxygen products—the focus was on verifying commonly used emergency medical devices. These include portable oxygen concentrators, portable oxygen units, medical oxygen concentrators, as well as electronic blood pressure monitors, electronic thermometers, blood glucose meters, first-aid kits, and medical dressings.

Furthermore, during the on-site inspections, staff also provided宣讲指导, reinforcing the primary responsibility of operators and enhancing awareness of compliant business practices.

To date, market supervision departments across various cities and prefectures in the province have conducted over 100 supervisory inspections on medical devices during the tourist season, deploying more than 500 law enforcement personnel and inspecting over 380 business and user entities.

Issues identified during these inspections are being addressed by urging the responsible entities to make timely corrections, thereby firmly safeguarding the baseline safety of medical device use for the public during their travels.
