LONDON, Oct 12 (Reuters) - The alternative investing arm of the world's biggest asset manager BlackRock has hired Kristen Weldon as global head of sustainable finance, a memo seen by Reuters showed.

Weldon joins from Partners Capital where she was head of ESG (environmental, social and governance) and Impact Investing. Among her previous roles, Weldon was co-head of Blackstone's hedge fund solutions business, the memo said.

"Based in London, she will continue to drive our agenda to embrace ESG and sustainable investing principles at the center of our business and lead important initiatives such as developing a comprehensive framework for assessing climate risk," the memo from BlackRock Alternative Investments $(BAI.SI)$ head Edwin Conway and Chief Investment Officer Jim Barry said.

Weldon replaces Teresa O’Flynn who is moving to become a founding member of Decarbonization Partners, a venture capital and private equity partnership with Singaporean investor Temasek announced in April.

As part of its expansion into sustainable investing, BAI earlier this year also launched the world's largest renewable power infrastructure fund, Global Renewable Power III, which closed at $4.8 billion, it said.
