Sierra Metals Inc. said Wednesday that it has reached an agreement with the residents from a town near its Peruvian mine that had blocked its access.
The precious and base metals producer's Yauricocha mine, operated by its subsidiary Sociedad Minera Corona, has been suspended from operation since Sept. 22.
At the time, Sierra Metals suspended all operations except for safety and maintenance activities after locals from the nearby town of Alis blocked access to the site.
The company hasn't yet specified why the townspeople blocked access to the mine.
Sierra Metals also said it doesn't know when the mine will return to production levels as they were before the incident, and said that it won't release any financial guidance for the time being.
