Generation Z is getting its first representative in Washington.

Maxwell Frost, 25, won an Orlando-area congressional district in Florida, according to the Associated Press. He defeated Republican Calvin Wimbish.

The oldest members of Generation Z were born in 1997. House members must be 25, so Mr. Frost is just old enough to take office.

He sought office after becoming active on issues such as gun violence, including working with the student-led pro-gun control March for Our Lives.

The average age of a member of the current Congress is 58.4, according to the Library of Congress.

Republican Madison Cawthorne won a North Carolina congressional seat in 2020 at the age of 25. He lost his primary this year amid scandals including twice having a gun confiscated at an airport and accusing fellow lawmakers of attending sex parties.
