Sony Research and AI Singapore Collaborate on Southeast Asian Language Models

Sony Group (TYO:6758) unit Sony Research and AI Singapore (AISG) have signed an MOU to develop SEA-LION large language models (LLMs), focused on Southeast Asian languages, according to a Tuesday company announcement.

The partnership aims to improve the representation of these languages in global AI models, Sony said.

The collaboration, involving Sony AI, will test and refine SEA-LION models for Tamil and other regional languages, sharing expertise in LLM development.
