TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian flagship airline, Garuda Indonesia, participates in the international aviation exhibition, the Bali International Air Show (BIAS) 2024. Garuda Indonesia, and some of its subsidiaries such as Citilink, GMF, and Aerofood ACS, will ink several strategic cooperations during the event that runs from September 18 to 21, 2024.
One of the agreements is between Garuda Maintenance Facility (GMF) and Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) in the expansion of landing gear maintenance. The cooperation is expected to strengthen GMF’s ability to satisfy domestic and international market requirements.
GMF also inks cooperation with Arta Hangar Indonesia, as witnessed by Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjatian. The agreement concerns aircraft maintenance for PT Arta Hangar Indonesia at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.
Additionally, GMF also cooperates with Honeywell for its JetWave MCX SATCOM satellite communication system.
The CEO of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said Indonesia’s opportunity to host the global air show must be utilized optimally. He stressed the importance of strategic innovation implementation in the profit-based aviation ecosystem as well as protecting the environment.
“We are optimistic that this exhibition will be Indonesia’s first gateway as an industry leader,” Irfan said in a written statement on Thursday, September 19.
In addition to strategic cooperation with foreign partners, GMF also inked an agreement for aircraft maintenance and ground handling standards for Citilink. Additionally, Aerofood ACS inked agreements with Japan Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, and Etihad Airways in regards to inflight catering.
Irfan emphasized that Garuda Group’s participation at BIAS 2024 represents the company’s commitment to responding to Indonesia’s aviation industry growth.
Moreover, this exhibition is projected to be attended by at least 6,000 visitors from around 35 countries consisting of state leaders, professional practitioners from the aviation industry, and the general public.
“BIAS 2024 is not only an important moment for industry players but also for the country in showcasing its progress and great potential in the aerospace sector," said the Garuda Indonesia boss.
