Evogene (EVGN) said Thursday that it is collaborating with Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google Cloud to create a new foundation model for designing small molecules.

The company said it will use Google Cloud's Vertex AI, GPUs, and Cloud Storage to access the computational power and storage needed to develop the new artificial intelligence model. The collaboration aims to improve Evogene's ChemPass AI technology, which helps discover and develop innovative products based on small molecules.

The main goal of the initiative is to advance drug development, sustainable crop protection, and support other life-science applications, the company added.
