Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the FutureFuel Corp. (NYSE:FF) Chief Executive Officer, Roeland Polet, recently bought US$51k worth of stock, for US$5.11 per share. Nevertheless, it only increased their shareholding by a minuscule percentage, and it wasn't a massive purchase by absolute value, either.

FutureFuel Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Independent Director Ronald Kruszewski made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$458k worth of shares at a price of US$4.60 each. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of US$5.19. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

FutureFuel insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Does FutureFuel Boast High Insider Ownership?

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Based on our data, FutureFuel insiders have about 1.3% of the stock, worth approximately US$2.9m. But they may have an indirect interest through a corporate structure that we haven't picked up on. I generally like to see higher levels of ownership.
