Peabody Energy (BTU): Anglo American (UK:AAL), (NGLOY) signed a deal to sell its remaining steelmaking-coal assets to the U.S. coal miner for up to $3.78 billion.

EchoStar $(SATS)$: DirecTV decided to walk away from its proposed merger with EchoStar's Dish Network, abandoning a tie-up that the two satellite-TV companies have attempted several times.

UniCredit (IT:UCG): Italy's UniCredit launched a $10 billion-plus takeover bid for rival Banco BPM (IT: BAMI), raising questions about the likelihood of a deal for another target, German lender Commerzbank (XE:CBK). Shares of UniCredit and Commerz fell more than 2% and 5%, respectively. BPM's rose 5%.

MicroStrategy $(MSTR.AU)$: Shares of the bitcoin-buying software company have been volatile since crypto-ally Donald Trump was elected U.S. president. They rose 4% premarket after big swings last week.

Zoom Video Communications (ZM) is among companies due to report earnings after the market closes.
