When a single insider purchases stock, it is typically not a major deal. However, when multiple insiders purchase stock, like in Podium Minerals Limited's (ASX:POD) instance, it's good news for shareholders.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Podium Minerals Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by insider Elizabath Dodd for AU$130k worth of shares, at about AU$0.025 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (AU$0.033), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

While Podium Minerals insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. Does Podium Minerals Boast High Insider Ownership?

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. From our data, it seems that Podium Minerals insiders own 13% of the company, worth about AU$2.4m. But they may have an indirect interest through a corporate structure that we haven't picked up on. Whilst better than nothing, we're not overly impressed by these holdings.
