Spire Global said it was promoting operating chief Theresa Condor to the role of chief executive as founder Peter Platzer moves into the executive-chairman seat.

The provider of space-based data, analytics and other services also has tapped a pair of aerospace-industry veterans to join its executive ranks, but is set to lose Chief Financial Officer Leo Basola when he steps down after completing a review of certain accounting practices and the restatement of past financial statements.

Spire said Condor, who was part of the company's founding team and has led the expansion of its business lines, will take on her new role Jan. 1. She plans to lead the company into a new phase of growth, with a focus on streamlining operations, the company said.

Platzer, who has been at the helm for 12 years, will guide Spire's directors and focus on securing opportunities to drive growth, the Vienna, Va., company said.

Spire said Basola plans to step down as finance chief and will be succeeded on an interim basis by former CFO Thomas Krywe while the company searches for a permanent finance chief. Krywe has worked as a consultant for the company since August and was part of the team behind the recent deal to sell Spire's maritime business.

The company has hired Celia Pelaz, a former Airbus executive, to serve as chief operating officer and take on responsibility for the company's revenue and operations. Most recently, Pelaz has served as chief operating officer at the former Airbus business Hensoldt, a company focused on sensor technologies for defense and security missions.

Gabriel Oehme will become chief transformation officer, Spire said. Oehme spent 22 years at Airbus in roles including operations, business development, procurement and sales. He most recently was managing director and chief commercial officer of aerospace manufacturer Aerotech Peissenberg.
