China Shenshan Orchard Holdings (SGX:BKV) reported a 50% decline in its 2024 kiwifruit harvest due to reduced orchard area, extreme weather, and canker disease, according to a Friday filing on the Singapore Stock Exchange.
Trial cultivation of 10 new kiwifruit varieties cut the harvestable orchard area by 20% to 1,500 mu. Unfavorable weather, including prolonged rains in April and record-high temperatures of up to 40.7°C in mid-2024, hindered pollination and fruit quality.
Canker disease further impacted yields. The company warned that the harvest slump could weigh on revenue and profits, with full-year results due by March 1, 2025.
