Financial stocks fell late Monday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index down 0.7% and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) shedding 1.1%.
The Philadelphia Housing Index was up 0.1%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) was up 0.2%.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) fell 4.1% to $97,023, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries rose 5 basis points to 4.20%.
In corporate news, BTC Digital (BTCT) shares dropped 5.5%. The company said Monday it completed an underwritten public offering of 2.5 million ordinary shares and prefunded warrants at $8 a share for gross proceeds of $20 million.
Alexandria Real Estate Equities (ARE) shares popped 2.8%. The company said Monday its board has approved a stock buyback program for up to $500 million of shares through Dec. 31, 2025.
Arthur J. Gallagher (AJG) agreed to buy insurance brokerage AssuredPartners for $13.45 billion in cash to expand the retail middle-market property and casualty focus across the US. Arthur J. Gallagher shares eased 0.4%.
Apollo Global Management's (APO) Novolex has agreed to buy Pactiv Evergreen (PTVE) for $18 per share in an all-cash deal valued at $6.7 billion. Apollo shares were falling 3.3% and Pactiv jumped past 18%.
