TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has sent off 800,066 passengers to celebrate Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru). Vice President of Public Relations of KAI Anne Purba said that from December 19 to 23, 2024, for the Java and Sumatra Islands, 2,059,937 train tickets have been sold for long-distance routes to local trains.

Anne said that the number of tickets sold is the total seating capacity provided by KAI of 3,572,588.

Meanwhile, ticket sales for local train routes have reached 255,115 sold. Anne said that 32 percent of the total number of seats for local train routes provided by KAI is 801,724 tickets.

"From December 19, 2024 to January 5, 2025, KAI Group will provide a total of 44,754,280 seats," said Anne Purba in a written statement on Monday, December 23, 2024.

Anne said that medium or long-distance train ticket reservations can be made 45 days before departure. Meanwhile, local train tickets can only be booked 30 days before departure. She said there are several trains that can also only be booked 7 days before departure.

In addition to long-distance and local train routes, Anne explained data on the provision of train passenger seats for the Nataru period. She mentioned 35,407,300 passenger seats for the KAI Commuter Line; 4,142,520 Light Rail Transit (LRT) passengers for the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi (Jabodebek) route; 588,304 South Sumatra LRT passengers; 7,416 KAI Wisata passengers; 487,728 KAI Airport passengers; 29,160 Makassar to Parepare train passengers and 519,264 Whoosh or fast train passengers.

The total number of KAI Group trips is 40,782. Anne explained this route with details of 7,328 train trips managed by KAI, 23,204 trips managed by KAI Commuter, 1,872 train trips managed by KAI Airport, 5,598 Jabodebek LRT trips, 1,772 South Sumatra LRT trips, 36 trips managed by KAI Wisata, 108 Makassar to Parepare train trips and 864 Whoosh trips managed by KCIC.

"The number of ticket sales will continue to change dynamically and increase, because sales are still ongoing," he said.

He appealed to train service users to immediately book tickets for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays. Because, continued Anne, some train tickets are starting to sell out.

"KAI hopes that the public can immediately order tickets and plan their holidays carefully because some train tickets for the Christmas and New Year period have started to sell out," said Anne.
