KT (KRX:030200) and defense firm LIG Nex1 (KRX:079550) entered a partnership to develop core technologies for low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, including 6G communications and quantum cryptography, Yonhap News reported Thursday.
The agreement reflects the increasing demand for homegrown LEO satellites to safeguard national security amid global market dominance by players such as SpaceX and Kuiper Systems, the report said.
Shares of LIG Nex1 fell more than 5% in recent trade on Friday.
