Agrimin (ASX:AMN) has received Western Australian State environmental approval for the development of its Mackay Potash Project, following extensive environmental reviews, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.

The company's proposal to develop the project was classified as a controlled action under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, requiring a thorough environmental impact assessment by the Western Australian Environmental Protection Authority (WAEPA), the filing said.

This assessment included public comment and review periods, after which the WAEPA recommended approval for the project, subject to specific conditions, which the company accepted on Jan. 9, the filing added.

The company will now proceed to secure Commonwealth environmental approval, further advancing its plans to develop the potash project.

Agrmin's shares surged 19% on market close Monday.
