MIC Global exits continue following SIAB 5183 run-off

By Rebecca Delaney

Jan 16 - (The Insurer) - Digital microinsurance provider MIC Global has seen a spate of exits across its syndicate management, claims operations and pricing functions, The Insurer can reveal.

This includes Kalpesh Shah, who was appointed head of syndicate management in August 2023.

Based in the UK, in this role Shah acted as the "central point of contact for all syndicate-related matters", according to the announcement of his appointment. This included finance, business planning and underwriting performance management.

According to Shah's LinkedIn profile, he departed the firm in October 2024, the same month MIC Global announced its intent to become a Lloyd’s coverholder of Greenlight Re’s Syndicate 3456.

MIC Global said at the time that the move was designed to leverage both firms’ collective resources to drive greater innovation at Lloyd’s.

Other exits in recent months include pricing actuary Vanessa Mugwelo, who also joined the firm in August 2023, and Wairimu Njoki and Scott Frazer, who – according to their LinkedIn profiles – served as head of global operations and head of marketing and design, respectively.

This publication also understands that Vijay Vaswani, senior vice president, strategy and operations, has tendered his resignation. Vaswani joined MIC Global in May 2023 from Eos Venture Partners, a strategic venture capital fund focused on insurtech.

The Insurer revealed in November that Syndicate 5183's active underwriter Mark Campbell had resigned after just over a year in the role. This followed the news that the syndicate-in-a-box had opted to cease underwriting new business in 2025.

It is understood that the latest departures are related to the wind-down of Syndicate 5183.

According to Companies House filings, accounts for UK holding company Microensure Holdings Limited made up to 31 December 2023 are currently overdue. The subsidiary also has an outstanding confirmation statement, which was due by 30 November 2024.

Account filings for the same period are also overdue for MIC Global Services Limited.
