NGX (ASX:NGX) produced additional spherical graphite from previously rejected fines material in collaboration with international technology partners, according to a Monday Australian bourse filing.

The production allows the firm to potentially increase production yields of active anode material and meets the required industry benchmarks, the filing added. Optimization efforts are ongoing.

It is part of its program focused on pre-qualifying anode material derived from natural flake graphite from its Malingunde graphite project in Malawi.

The firm plans to produce finer-sized spherical graphite from low-value fines material, increasing yield and improving the potential economics and marketability of graphite from the project, by introducing a new value-added process.

The firm's shares fell past 3% in recent trading on Monday.
