Walmart Inc. is moving some roles and eliminating others as it refocuses around its new Bentonville, Ark., headquarters in moves affecting hundreds of jobs.

Chief People Officer Donna Morris told employees in an internal memo on Tuesday that it will exit its office in North Carolina and relocate employees in Bentonville and Sunnyvale, Calif., according to an internal memo seen by MarketWatch.

The memo cited a "review process" that has "eliminated some roles as we streamline."

The memo didn't provide a specific number of employees that would be affected.

Last month, Walmart $(WMT)$ formally unveiled its new "home office" campus on 250 acres in Bentonville, with a projected cost well into the billions.

Morris said the company has been opening buildings in its new home office and plans to expand in Sunnyvale and Bellevue, Wash.

It's also planning to increase its office space in Hoboken, N.J., and its fashion office in New York City.

Walmart's stock was down 0.2% in early trading on Wednesday.

Walmart has 2.1 million employees, according to FactSet data.
